I got an email yesterday from a listener.  Here's the email from Marisol:

"Hola Laura,

Love the show!  I recently checked your facebook page to see what you looked like and I love your hair!  Who does it?  I'm new to town and starting over.  I want a new look. Any suggestions on what to do to my hair?

Lucky for Marisol, I happen to LOVE helping with stuff like that.  

My sister has been a hairstylist for nearly 2 decades.  She's always guided me in the right direction when it comes to hair trends to either jump on or stray away from. 

So, let's talk Summer Hair styles that are hot. (If you follow me on Pinterest, you already know because I have a Hair board)

Here are TIPS I've compiled by talking with my sister and by looking at the styles in magazines and the most pinned pics on Pinterest:

-Go blonde for summer...or...maybe just lighter. Beach hair is very in during these hot months and it's more natural when it looks like your hair has actually been exposed to the sun...but, don't go bleach blonde ALL OVER.  A half or full highlight will do the trick and it looks more natural when it's done with highlights instead of looking like you dipped your head in bleach.  Check out this perfect beach hair look.

-As you can see, parting your hair in the middle is also very in right now. I am having to get used to it because I'm a side parter myself. But, since I've been parting in middle, it's been compliments galore!

-Long hair is also very coveted right now. 

-Another way to call 'Beach Hair' is 'Bed Head' or 'Victoria Secret' hair.  All the models in VS have this particular style right now. It's just an overall effortless look. 

-It should look messy, unbrushed, long, voluminous and UNstyled! <---even though you're styling it.  Wavy is the key word here, not curly.

The other style that's super chic and in right now is the other EXTREME if you dare!  The pixie look.   Think Michelle Williams. Even though it's short, it stays with that 'effortless' theme of summer.

And I would be remiss if I didn't mention the BRAID phenomenon going on right now.  Every updo my sister is doing lately has to have a braid incorporated into it.  Long gone are the French Twists. 

-It's all about messy braids, hair knots, messy buns and again...EFFORTLESS looking updos.
