People always ask why am I doing 100 Charity Event by the end of the year? They think the station is making me do it for PR or something. It just makes me laugh when I hear that. I guess it's hard to believe that someone would give up their own time to help a charity. Over the past week I did 5 events and two of them back to back. The thing that I am seeing is there are some really good people in this world. There are people out there that really have passion about helping other people. I see people with family members that are dealing with the diseases that they are volunteering for. Everyone that is helping has a story on why they are doing it. Doing these Charity events has opened my eyes to another side of life. You see on the nightly News every night, stories of bad people doing bad things to each other or to good people. It makes you just want to stay in your homes and lock the doors. What I have seen doing these events is the balance that people need to see. There are A LOT of good people in this world and they work really hard to do good things. They are trying to make a difference. These are the people you never see on the News or read about in the paper. These people have the satisfaction that they are help make a difference in something they believe in. The recognition is one they feel inside knowing that didn't just sit on their butt but the did something. To those people, you have made me a better person by just watching you give, give and give some more.
To answer the question, Why did I decide to help 100 Charities by the end of the year? My answer is, if you were in the position that you could help these Charities, why wouldn't you? I am in the position that I can, so I'm going to do it. It's not easy but the feeling I get when I leave these events is one I can't explain. If really feels good to know that you are doing the right thing.
