The Throne a.k.a. Kanye West and Jay-Z won Best Group.

Chris Brown and Beyonce were the Best Male and Female R&B Artists and Big Sean won Best New Artist.

Nicki Minaj won Best Hip/Hop Female Artist.

Meanwhile, Mariah Carey introduced a tribute to Whitney Houston, and noted that they were actually friends, not rivals.

She remembered Whitney as, "a hilarious person, with a cutting sense of humor. She was real and kept it real, and that's why we got along so well. If you really knew Whitney, you couldn't help but love her."

She added, "I miss my friend, and I miss hearing her voice and laughter, but we'll always have the music."

In other BET awards news, 11-year-old Willow Smith debuted her new single "I am me".

13-year-old Jaden Smith also released a new rap track called "Gonzoes", and it includes a line about his sister.

He raps, "Now Willow is the star, man, how weak is that? / Pink hair, high socks, can't compete with that."

Some people are calling that a dis, but it might just be an honest note about how his younger sister has become more famous than him.
